Course Description

 

The purpose of the Chief of Safety course is to provide students with instructions in safety and related academic subjects to effectively conduct Air Force safety programs at wing/base level.  The course will emphasize applied management principles.  Projects, and outside study efforts will relate directly to the management of wing-level safety program.  Student participation and involvement are key areas of concern. 

 

Who Should Attend

 

  • Military personnel assigned as Chiefs of Safety to supervise and direct organizational flight, weapons and ground safety programs.

  • Any one who needs a general understanding of the military mishap prevention process.

  • You will be introduced to general principles and requirements for mishap prevention programs at a wing.

  • You will learn the basic concepts of mishap prevention

  • You will learn the general duties of the flight, ground and weapons safety specialists.

  • You will be introduced to common occupational safety and health problems and issues and how they relate to the Air Force Occupational Safety and Health program.

  • You will gain a general knowledge of the requirements for mishap investigation and reporting and the process of investigation.

  • You will learn to recognize your personal leadership style and how to deal with safety management and leadership issues.

  • You will participate in workshops to improve your communication and interpersonal skills.

  • This course meets the objectives of USAF Chief of Safety Course WCIP 05C.

Course Administration

 

This is a contract course designed to be delivered at the customer’s location or at the Pacific Palms Conference Center in Southern California.  The course is 4 days (32 hours of instruction). Classes start at 0800 and end at 1700.
