Course recognition by the Board of Certified
Safety Professionals
Many of the courses offered
by SCSI are recognized in various ways. Many are recognized by
the Board of Certified Safety Professionals for Continuance of
Certification Credit. The course description section for each
course listed states when the course is recognized for Continuance
of Certification Credit by the Board.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
For all courses taken
at SCSI effective January, 1997, SCSI will award Continuing Education
Units (CEU). The CEU was created as a unit of measurement that
could be used to quantify continuing education and training activities
according to the International Association for Continuing Education
and Training. Since 1970 there has been increasing emphasis on
the CEU as a mark of quality assurance for learning activities.
There is increasing use and interest in the CEU among corporations,
professions and governmental agencies. We are therefore awarding
CEUs for all SCSI course work effective 1 January, 1997.

How to register
by FAX or On-line
Registering for one of
our courses is easy. To register by FAX simply download and complete the SCSI Course
Registration Form and mail or FAX it to SCSI using the
address (or FAX number) on the form. You may also
register on-line. You will receive back a
confirmation of enrollment from SCSI or, if the course is full
or has been re-scheduled, SCSI will notify you of alternative
opportunities to take the same course(s).
|
How to request transcripts
As of 1 January 1997,
students attending SCSI courses may request a transcript from
SCSI. Attendees already receive a Certificate upon satisfactory
completion of a course, but, if a transcript is required showing
CEUs awarded, simply use the Request for Transcript form contained
in this catalog. Please complete the form and mail (or FAX) to
SCSI using the address or FAX number shown on the form.

How to contract with SCSI
If
you would like to explore contracting with us to have us present
an existing course at a location and time of your choice, or
if you would like to explore having us develop a new course tailored
for your specific training needs, please use the contract inquiry
form on this web site or contact SCSI directly via Fax, phone
or E-mail . You may also call us directly
at any time to discuss your needs. If we receive the inquiry
form, we will contact you prepared to discuss your specific request.
Contracting with us follows an easy step by step process:
|
The contracting process
-
You state your needs
-
We help review, clarify,
and formalize your statement of needs
-
We submit a proposal
on how we would meet your needs
-
You say yes, no, or
maybe
-
If maybe, we repeat
the process until you say yes or no
-
If you say yes, we
sign a contract or you send us a purchase order.

International contracting with SCSI
International contracting
with SCSI follows the same process as the regular contracting
process described above. The only difference is that we submit
a proposal containing both
The instructional package is what
the course costs. The travel package is what it costs to bring
SCSI to you to deliver the course (mainly air travel and hotel
accommodations for instructors). In some instances we have found
that clients would rather make and pay directly for all travel
arrangements themselves. When this happens, they simply contract
with SCSI for the instructional package only. You may contract
with SCSI for both packages or just the instructional package
as long as you provide an equivalent travel package.
|
Class size
Class size is limited
in all regularly scheduled courses in order for us to provide
you with the best possible learning environment. We recommend
you register early to ensure space availability for the classes
in which you are interested.
|
Confirmation of registration
After your registration
form has been received, we will register you in the course(s)
you select and process your tuition. Shortly after you are registered
you will receive a confirmation letter from us that outlines
all logistical information such as local travel and hotels in
the area where the course is offered. If you require assistance
with local hotels and transportation, please let us know. Included
in the confirmation letter will be the details of the course
and location of the classroom.
|
Tuition fee payment
Payment must accompany
your registration and must be in U.S. dollars (Except for courses
offered in Europe which are priced in Euros) and drawn on a
U.S. bank. You may pay tuition in full by check, credit card,
or send us a company/agency purchase order. Please make checks
payable to SCSI.
|
Multiple registration discount
Organizations who send attendees to SCSI courses
may receive a discount which applies under the following circumstances:
Please check the SCSI catalog and price list
to see if you qualify for a discount. For those organizations which
qualify, there is also a GSA discount.
If you qualify for a discount, SCSI's invoice
will reflect the discount. If there are any questions, please
contact SCSI directly. (This is a clarification of the existing SCSI
discount policy.)
If you want to discuss a larger discount
based on a larger number of simultaneous registrations or to arrange for an entire course and guarantee
to fill it (20 to 25 students), you will receive a bid from us
that will reflect substantial savings compared to the listed
per student tuition.

Cancellation
policy
If we have to cancel a
course, you will be notified no later than 21 days before the
course start date and be given the option of guaranteed placement
in another course or a full refund of any tuition paid for the
course being cancelled. Please use caution when finalizing your
travel plans. We are not responsible for any travel-related penalties
incurred if we have to cancel a course or change a course start
date. We have the right to cancel courses and/or change faculty
when necessary. If you have to cancel your participation in a
course and do so no later than 23 days before the course start
date, you will receive a full refund of your tuition. If you
cancel between 22 days and 14 days from the course start date,
you will receive a refund of 75% of your tuition. If you cancel
within 14 days of course start date, you will receive a refund
of 50% of the tuition. In every case, however, if you are registered
in a course but can't attend, you may substitute someone else
in your place or you may apply the full tuition to the same course
the next time it is given or to any course within a one year
period.
